With rich architectural heritage, the city of Ahmedabad is knows for is Hawelies, Pols, Chabutras, Darwajas and much more. This city houses the Indo-Islamic monuments of the 15th to 17th centuries which are distinctively seen in traditional poles. Together, the walled city of Ahmedabad was undoubtedly the first city of India to be inscribed in UNESCO’s World Heritage City.

Situated on the Banks of river Sabarmati, the Historic City of Ahmedabad has unique character that is different from other cities of Gujarat. With swift economic growth, Ahmedabad is a bustling metropolitan housing reputed Institutes, Museums, Lakes etc that are intensely embedded in the tradition. The City is home to Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi, who spent considerable time of his life in Ahmedabad. In addition to this the Heritage City houses tradition residential clusters called pols and hosts few of the supreme medieval Islamic Architecture.


Ahmedabad will always be remembered for the Gandhi-Era, the period that The Mahatma spent in the city and gave the famous landmark, that draws attention of the World, The Gandhi Ashram or Sabarmati Ashram, his residence knows as Hridaykunj. Other than this, the  City also houses hundreds of temples, mosques and other pilgrim spots that are renowned all over the World.

Once known as Manchester of India, the city famous for its textile mills has now become biggest industrial capital of Gujarat. The city will always remember the great dwellers like Sheth Ranchhodlal Chhotalal – who started the first textile mill, Sheth Shantidas Zaveri, and the leading industrialist Sheth Kasturbhai Lalbhai who have given major contribution in making the city flourishing.

From Swaminarayan Temples located in Kalupur to Sidi Syed Jali located in the heart of the city, the artistic carvings of the Temple and Jali are famous world over. Eminent leaders from all over the world have visited this Historic Heritage City of Ahmedabad, to get a glimpse of the marvel.  Festivals like Navaratri, Diwali, Kite Flying, Eid etc shows true color of the city.
